TESTIMONIALS FROM OUR CLIENTS

I came to Gyrotonic a couple of years ago because I found that my ACL injury was preventing me from doing the types of workouts I was used to and I was becoming less and less flexible. Although I thought I was getting more movement back in my body from Gyrotonic, my knee injury kept affecting other areas of my body. Soon one of my legs seemed to be in pain throughout the day. I have a high threshold for pain, and Gyrotonic exercises and movements would help with the relief, but the pain was constant.

Anne Thomasson saw my decline and suggested I try Atrium Health Services – Chiropractic healing. I had never tried chiropractic care, and was a little wary. Even after the first session, the relief and the added flexibility is quite remarkable. Unbeknownst to me, the constant pain and stiffness had caused a change in my demeanor. People are actually saying that they see a smile on my face. I am able to walk further without the pain in my leg, lower back, and I have gained so much flexibility back. The combination of Gyrotonic and Atrium Health Services has put me on a true path to wellness.

Anne Thomasson and the Gyrotonic St. Louis studio have my strongest recommendation as a teacher and studio for safe exercise and wonderful movement. I came late to the game with the Gyrotonic Method having done weights, yoga, Pilates and more. Four years ago, I found this great system that incorporates stretching, core-work, non-linear movement, and strength modalities for a profound exercise experience.

As a 65-year-old man, I've been a decent athlete most of my life including rowing, mountain climbing, running, dancing; and the weight/cardio training to support these. By far, Gyrotonic and Gyrokinesis have been the best exercise programs for strength, flexibility, and movement. And, in my experience, they are the most protective of my body with the tendency to overdo it and get injured. This is not a power work-out, nor is designed for long-term cardio. What it has done for me is to support all my other endeavors while providing the overall strength, connection, balance, and awareness to better use my body in anything I'm doing in life. From reaching up to a high kitchen shelf, to balancing on a snowy ridgeline, to social dancing, it is the foundation of my practice and, actually my life. It has been key to unwinding years of trauma, injury, and old compensations that needed changing. I also discovered the profound benefit of the Gyrotonic method after two major surgeries in 2021 (ACL, and abdominal) where I quickly bounced back and safely healed with superb results.

I began Gyrotonic lessons in Colorado and, over the Covid restrictions, found Anne and her teachers on Zoom. I never looked back as they have been the most professional and interested teachers by far. Which is one of the reasons I moved to St. Louis, to be closer to this wonderful studio and the great teachers - for they all are. I will continue with this method for the rest of my life - in both group and private lessons - as it is key and core to my well-being in everything I do.

Anne and all her teachers have my strongest personal recommendation as a studio, and the Gyrotonic/Gyrokinesis methods for getting and staying fit and enjoying the process. They have made a huge and noticeable difference in my life.

“I had back pain issues for many years. Some years ago, due to some strenuous activity during a holiday trip, I was in extreme pain and doctors prescribed cortisone injections or surgery. I was fortunate to have met Anne Thomasson at the time who invited me to try gyrotonic. I have for over ten years been free of back pain and, for a 72 year old, have very good flexibility. I attribute keeping away from the surgical knife to a combination of gyrotonic exercises and chiropractic maintenance treatments.”

I am a recovering football player, and most recently have had both knees and hips replaced. It seems like I have been going to some form of Physical Therapy forever.

A few months ago, I discovered a “da Vinci” inspired circular form of supported and resistant movement exercise called GYROTONIC.  This new and innovative kind of exercise  has provided me with the kind of effortless free joint mobility and range of motion - that I have been looking forward to for years.

Over my lifetime, I have had the opportunity to work with some of the finest physical therapist in the USA. I have found the movement therapist and instructors at GYROTONIC® St Louis Central to be as knowledgeable and more innovative than I’ve ever experienced before.  I believe the GYROTONIC exercise platform to be “the finest form of movement and exercise I have experienced on this planet”.
